A taste of V8-powered, lightweight Modified dirt track racers battling for supremacy on Stratford Speedway in the province of Taranaki, New Zealand, March 10, 2012. The event was the North Island championship and 20 qualifiers raced over three heats for maximum points. With such fast, wheel-to-wheel racing there were inevitably some crashes, including two very big ones, but nobody was hurt. I've been newspaper reporting the Stratford Speedway for several years now. This is the fastest growing of NZ's 24 licensed tracks and is currently ranked third biggest, with 203 registered drivers. I go to every meeting, and watch the racing from a media box above the start-finish line. This is also the perfect position for filming races. The season runs from mid-Oct to mid-April and the track caters for nine racing classes: modifieds, midgets, stock cars, super stocks, saloons, street stocks, adult ministocks, youth ministocks and minisprints. National and semi-national championship events are allocated to the tracks by a controlling body and Stratford gets its fair share of these, which usually require a two-night meet of qualifying and finals. I've been filming the speedway since January and I am now selling speedway DVDs. These are generally in groups of three races in each class, fully edited and titled, with full sound, grid draw, significant events captioned, and the results listed. If you'd like to see any more on YT, please ask. If you'd like to contact me about buying a DVD ... | From:wooddsie Views:0 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 0ratings | |
